I’m interested to research the neural basis of psychiatric disorders. In particular, the neural mechanisms underlying psychedelic treatments in relation to anxiety and depression.

“I’m interested in understanding adaptations the body utilizes within extreme conditions/environments, such as undersea, space, and high altitudes. Further, I’m interested in protective countermeasures that could be developed for those working within these conditions, and the translational aspects of these adaptations in the context of stress, metabolism, and general physiology.”

“I am interested in studying the pathogenesis of muco-obstructive lung diseases—in particular, cystic fibrosis. At present, my interest centres on the role of chronic hypoxia on the development of CF lung disease. With this, I am also very interested in the epigenetic components of pathogenic changes in CF lung disease, with a focus on elucidating the impact of chronic hypoxia on such, and in turn, proposing novel treatment strategies/disease modelling techniques. Further, I would also like to pursue research on CFTR expression and regulation in the lung.”

“I’m interested in understanding what drives vector-borne virus transition between endemic and epidemic transmission cycles, including virus evolution, ecology, epidemiology, and pathogenesis. I hope to focus on arboviruses endemic to North America, and the ways eco-epidemiological change has shaped disease burdens in these largely understudied viruses.”

“I’m interested in exploring mechanisms of adaptive resistance to novel therapeutics, particularly in aggressive tumor models like PDAC, NSCLC, and CRC. I believe that transcriptional rebound mechanisms can be overpowered by the anti-tumor immune system, but the relationships among mechanisms of adaptive resistance and anti-tumor immune system dynamics have yet to be well elucidated. Thus, while I welcome the opportunity to explore both immune cell crosstalk and novel therapeutic efficacy, my hope is to identify a synergistic small-molecule/immunotherapy combo that can not only overcome adaptive resistance to single agent, but also translate well to the clinic.”

“I am interested in DNA repair and replication, cell cycle and chromosome segregation, epigenetics, and developmental biology. I am looking to work with Drosophila, C. elegans, zebrafish, or cell cultures.”

“My research interests lie in the intersection of pathogenesis and host-pathogen interactions, and microbiology. I aim to explore the molecular basis of infectious diseases and develop novel treatments and vaccines. Within microbiology, I am particularly interested in investigating the genetic mechanisms that regulate microorganism biology and how this knowledge can be applied to advance medical treatments. Additionally, I aim to understand the molecular mechanisms of disease pathogenesis in microorganisms.”

“I am most interested in drug discovery research as it relates to any disease but particularly cancer. I would like to translate my research in vivo to better understand the physiological impact on the disease and how the drug can be improved to reach clinical trials. I have an interest in working towards a certificate in translational medicine too.”
