- American Dance Festival: world-class modern dance events in June and July
- Art of the Cool: music festival featuring R&B, soul, hip-hop, jazz, alternative, and spoken word
- Beaver Queen Pageant: contestants dress in beaver-themed costumes to raise money for the Ellerbe Creek Watershed Association
- Carrboro Music Festival: free two-day event to showcase Triangle-area performers
- Chinese Lantern Festival: a sprawling garden of lights during the winter months in Cary
- Chinese New Year Festival: celebrate Lunar New Year at the State Fairgrounds
- Diwali: Cary hosts an annual Festival of Lights
- Festifall: Chapel Hill arts festival
- Festival for the Eno: folk music and crafts in Eno River State Park over the Fourth of July weekend
- Greek Festival: Greek food, music, and performances in Durham
- Halloween on Franklin Street: Chapel Hill’s huge celebration of Halloween

- NC Juneteenth Celebration: celebrating African-American Independence Day
- NC State Fair: a celebration of NC history, culture, and agriculture, the fair features rides, exhibits, and too much food to try
- Out South Queer Film Festival: second largest queer film festival in the southeastern US
- Piedmont Farm Tour: annual tour of local, sustainable farms
