Laboratories at UNC perform cutting-edge research in a broad array of fields such as developmental biology, nanomedicine, genomics, cancer biology, virology, and many more. Students from diverse backgrounds seeking a PhD in these areas apply to UNC through the umbrella Biological and Biomedical Sciences Program (BBSP). BBSP has over 350 faculty members organized into 14 degree granting PhD programs plus many Specialized Training Tracks that provide additional training. Our TIBBS professional development program offers career awareness, skills development, and immersive training experiences to help graduate students prepare for successful careers after their PhD.
