Debra Ragland, PhDDirector of SOLAR; Assistant Director of Diversity Affairs & IMSD
Dr. Ragland is the Assistant Director of the NIH funded IMSD program. In this role, she works to promote the development and success of biomedical Ph.D. students from diverse backgrounds. Dr. Ragland develops, implements, evaluates, and optimizes new and ongoing initiatives and programs designed to enhance the graduate training environment. Dr. Ragland also directs the UNC Summer of Learning and Research (SOLAR) program for undergraduates from groups historically underrepresented in the sciences. She oversees the 10-week summer research experience and professional development for the SOLAR students, who participate from colleges and universities across the country.
