In addition to the wide variety of degree options available, BBSP students have access to several programs that provide specialized training in addition to the PhD. These programs, usually funded by an NIH T32 training grant, represent unique research strengths at UNC. Bringing together faculty and students from across campus, the programs offer a specialized community, enhanced training, and funding opportunities for students. A list of our specialized training programs, also called Pre-Doctoral Training Programs, can be found below. Please visit their individual websites for more information.
A number of our PhD programs also have NIH T32 training grants associated with them, however these training grants provide financial support and training for students within that particular program. For a list of all training grant funding opportunities available to BBSP students, please see our Financial Support page.
"The Molecular & Cellular Biophysics program has not only guided me to a stronger understanding of the biophysical basis of cellular and molecular biology, but it has also provided me a close-knit cohort that serves me professionally, scientifically, and personally."- Jake Gauer, Chemistry student
